Clarence Shaw

Clarence Shaw,  M.A.
Federal status Highly Qualified Music Instructor K - 12

String Instructor Emeritus

Music maestro Clarence Shaw brings over 40 years’ experience teaching strings to Sedona Charter School.  He earned a B.A. in Music at Arizona State University and an M.A. in Music Instruction from Northern Arizona University.  More importantly, as an instructor he carries the authority of a symphony conductor (NAU, Coconino College, Silver Creek, Flagstaff Light Opera, and more), concertmaster (Flagstaff Symphony), and performer with orchestras including the National Orchestra of Costa Rica.  He is also an accomplished instrument builder/luthier.  He has taught at numerous high schools and elementary schools, as well as Northern Arizona University.  The strings program he started years ago in Lower Elementary has now penetrated the entire school, with performers in all three of our classrooms.  Clarence’s passionate wish is that the music program at Sedona Charter School will blossom out into other schools in the community.
