
Richard Byrnes, M.S.
Federal status: Highly Qualified K-8 Math Interventionist and Grades 7-12 Math Instructor
After gaining both his B.S. and M.S degrees in Chemical Engineering from Worcester Tech in Worcester, Massachusetts, Dick Byrnes embarked on a distinguished career as an engineer and entrepreneur. Though he had taught math and science as a graduate student, Dick’s passion for teaching really ignited when he embarked upon a second post-retirement career in 1998. He taught at Yavapai College and substituted throughout the Verde Valley /Oak Creek Districts before being induced to join Sedona Charter School as a special tutor for gifted math students in 2007. His most recent group of eighth grade students were assessed and accelerated directly into Honors College Algebra at Red Rock High School. Dick’s responsibilities have been expanded to include Title 1 Math tutoring. A committed and inspirational mentor, Mr. Byrnes brings an impeccably high standard to the classroom and relishes watching our students respond as he demands the very best from them.
