Whitney was born and raised in Arizona and has been a teacher and educational leader in the state for the past 15 years. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University, a Master’s of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, and a Master’s of Arts Degree in English, with an emphasis on education, also from Grand Canyon University. In 2015, she co-founded a successful K-8 charter school in Glendale, AZ. Over the years, she has taught students in 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Before coming to Sedona Charter School, she spent seven years teaching adolescents at a Montessori school in Phoenix and holds an AMI Adolescent Montessori Certification. 

 

In her down time, she enjoys spending quality time with her two grown sons, reading, writing, being out in nature, loving on her two dogs Grizzly and Pica, playing puzzle games, cooking, and traveling. She has been fortunate enough to travel the world extensively. She someday hopes to write a historical fiction novel based on the interesting life of her maternal great-grandmother. She is delighted to take on the challenge of serving as Principal Educator for the upper elementary class at SCS.
